An Under Vehicle Inspection System (UVIS) is a technology used to inspect the underside of vehicles for hidden objects or abnormalities. This can be applicable for example at military installations, at airports and other high-security locations. The purpose of an UVIS is to increase security by detecting hidden objects or anomalies that might otherwise go undetected.
An UVIS is used when inspecting vehicles as they enter secure areas but can also be used to inspect vehicles as they exit a secure area. All images from the UVIS are displayed and stored on a computer in the control room.
